In order for customers to view your images, you will need to add the images to Printroom galleries. Printroom galleries act as containers so that pictures from various events or from different types of photography can be separated. This makes it easier for your customers to locate their images later. To batch create galleries, first ensure you have properly installed and configured Pro Studio Manager (PSM). For the purposes of this tutorial, we are using PSM version 5.0.
Batch gallery creation provides for an alternative way to create your galleries. The standard method of creating galleries creates duplicate copies of your full-size images in folders created by PSM. This can use much of your available hard drive space. Batch gallery creation, on the other hand, allows you to refer PSM to existing folders containing images and designate those as Printroom galleries so that PSM will not create copies of your full-size images.
Here are the steps for batch gallery creation on the PC:
Batch Creation New Galleries - PC (PSM 5)
Step 1 – Galleries Section: Open PSM (Pro Studio Manager) and click into the “Galleries” section on the left.
Step 2 – Menu Location: Navigate to “Batch Gallery Creation” from the “File” menu:
File > Galleries > Batch Gallery Creation
Step 3 – Gallery Folder: Select a folder (we'll now call this a "top level folder") containing sub folders that contain images and click “OK." You will have needed to establish this hierarchy ahead of time. The top level folder will be considered a storage location for your galleries. Note: this folder should not be kept on your desktop (most photographers prefer to store these sort of images on an external hard drive).
Step 4 – Galleries Group (Optional): If you you wish to create a new folder within Pro Studio Manager that will help avoid a long laundry list of galleries, you can create a new group. All the galleries you are about to upload will now be with this folder. Note, this setting only works in Pro Studio Manager and will not affect your online galleries and groups.
Step 5 – Complete Batch Gallery Upload: The process may take some time to complete depending on the number of galleries being created. You will be presented with a prompt indicating completion. Click “OK” to proceed.
